ITINERARY:
(3 nights along the trail in tents and 1 night in the nearby village of Aguas Calientes)
DAY 01: Cusco - Calca - Baños Termales de Lares
You’ll be picked up from your hotel in Cusco at about 6:00 am to travel by bus to Lares where we arrive at about 11.00 am. Here we visit the hot springs of Lares. After lunch we walk for about 2 hours until we get to our campsite.
DAY 02: Huacawasi - Ipsaycocha
Early breakfast and we continue walking until we get to Huacawasi. In this community we can observe the weaving techniques used by the locals to produce blankets, ponchos and other items to wear. We walk up to Condorpasa (4100m asl). From here we get a panoramic view of the Verónica mountain 5750 asl. From here we walk down till the lagoon of Ipsaycocha where we camp.
DAY 03: Ipsaycocha - Patacancha - Huylloc - Pumamarka - Ollantaytambo - Aguas Calientes.
After lunch we walk down the valley and pass the communities of Willoc and Pumamarka. We can see beautiful Inca terraces. In Ollantaytambo we get the train to Aguas Calientes where we spend the night in an hostel.
Day 04: Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Cuzco
Early in the morning we get up to visit the ruins of Machu Picchu. Here we have a tour of about 3 hours. Then we have a few hours more to enjoy the ruins and later in the afternoon we take the train back to Cuzco.
