Puno is small town of just over 100.000 people on the shores of Lake Titicaca. It is a good place to break the journey from Arequipa to la Paz, the journey from Arequipa to Cuzco or the journey from Cuzco to La Paz.. It´s main attraction is Lake Titicaca. Here are the Uros reed islands, and the islands of Taquile and Amantani.

About 30 km away from Puno is the pre-Inca graveyard of Sillustani with impressive funeral towers known as Chullpas. The best time to visit is in the afternoon but if time is a problem they can also be visited on the way to/from the airport. Puno doesn´t have an airport. The nearest airport is Juliaca about an hour away from Puno.
